Björn Nonhoff
Visual Artist – Watercolour, Painting & Digital Art
Björn Nonhoff is a German visual artist with a background in computer science from the Technical University of Munich. Since 1999 he has worked continuously as a painter, focusing primarily on watercolour and acrylic painting. His work has been presented regularly in solo and group exhibitions.
Nonhoff’s visual language is shaped by a love of modern art and an ongoing exploration of colour, form and emotional expression. For many years he worked in his studio Atelier Nord in Munich-Moosach; today he continues his artistic practice in Grafing near Munich. He also served for several years on the board of the Kunstverein Ebersberg, contributing to the regional art scene.
Alongside painting, Nonhoff writes and illustrates books in which image and text form a dialogue. His publications combine poetry, storytelling and visual art, reflecting a broader interest in how artistic media enrich one another.
Parallel to his artistic career he works as an Agile Coach in the IT sector within a global DAX-30 company. Experiences with change, communication and complex human systems often feed into his artistic reflections.
Since 2020 he has focused mainly on watercolour on high-quality paper, exploring expressive, intimate compositions. In parallel he has experimented with digital and AI-based art, creating a large body of digital watercolor works presented on the Tezos blockchain platform objkt.com (@nonanon).
A large selection of his works is included in the art book “Komm mir nicht zu nah – Gedichte und Gemälde” (2025), combining watercolor paintings with contemporary German poetry.
Artistic Statement
For me, art is a space of joy. It opens new worlds, invites wonder and brings people together.
I am less interested in theoretical concepts or closed artistic ego-universes. What draws me more is beauty, lightness and play. Most of my paintings begin with curiosity and the willingness to experiment. Lines, colours and textures mirror inner movements and invite the viewer to reflect on life, growth and fading in a gentle way.
Art can create small bridges between people. It opens spaces for conversation and makes visible what often remains unspoken.
If my work creates a pause, a breath, a thought — or even a quiet smile — it has already fulfilled its purpose.

art is art as a rose is a rose. But both are contemporary.
